D or E. Both are nuclear particles with no negative charge. Protons have a positive charge, and neutrons have no charge. Isotopes are atoms with a different number of neutrons (like carbon 12 and carbon 13). Ions are atoms which have lost or gained electrons, to have a positive or negative charge, respectively. An electron is a subatomic particle with a negative charge; neutral atoms have as many electrons as they have protons.
