Hard drive error - Needs replacing??

Getting cyclic redundancy errors when restoring files to HDD after system restore. Not on every disc but alot of them - mainly data dvds that was taken with Nero - My system is Windows xp home. Also got a problem on 2nd system restore disc (cant read at all) what is on it that i need to load myself ? Ive been told its Drivers but which and what? ( i have an Advent pc p4)
