How can i control my anger?

I get so mad at my wife during arguments, I have had thoughts of doing serious bodily harm to her. I have never struck her nor attempted too, but i have had thoughts that really scare me. Im afraid i will hurt her 1 day when i am having an uncontrollable anger spell during an argument.
