?Best workout / diet program you know of for a 29 year old guy to loose about 50 lbs of weight?

If your legs and knees are in good condition I'd suggest jogging for about 30 min a day. If you can't handle the jogging try very brisk walking for 45 to 60 min. In so far as weight training, stick to high reps and sets with lighter weights for losing lbs. Cut out the fat and cut down on carbs.
