Yard projects - rescue horses ?

Literally just got the email so any advise would be fab. Everyone on the yard I'm at has clubbed together and brought 2 horses from an auction the other day. They have now arrived and are in awful condition. A 7 year old shire mare suspected to be in foal and a 9 year old gypsy cob gelding. Both are underweight, bad hooves, cob is nervous of people, mites, matted manes/tails/feather... You get the idea of their condition. The cost of the horses is being shared between 12 of us + yard owner who has given us free DIY livery for them for a year. So basically any advise on how to proceed with them & what we need would be great. Vet is coming out first thing tomorrow and farrier will be out on Monday.
