Ask a guy to a Sadie Hawkins dance?

I'm 14, go to middle school, and I already missed my chance to ask the guy I like to be my date at the girl's choice dance, and we are having another soon. I still want to ask him but I'm way too nervous and have a HUGE fear of rejection. Any ideas for increasing my chance of not being rejected?
