I just got a layered cut and I have no idea how to style it myself.?

I'm looking for a how to web site or some ideas, I tried to do it myself and I look like Bon-Jovi, but when the stylist did it, I looked really hot! I'm too shy to go back and ask, besides the guy that did it was really fast!
